72nd Mérida Classical Theatre Festival
From July 3 to August 30, 2026, the 72nd edition of the Mérida International Classical Theatre Festival will take place, one of the major cultural events of the summer in Europe. The festival will offer a wide-ranging program with more than 150 theatrical performances, as well as films, workshops, courses, exhibitions, street performances, lectures, and various other cultural activities.
The performances will take place in the Roman Theatre of Mérida, the Maria Luisa Theatre and other venues in the city, as well as extensions in Madrid, Medellín, Cáparra and Regina.
The Roman Theatre will host nine major world premiere productions combining scripted theatre, dance, ballet and musicals, while the Maria Luisa Theatre will feature a varied program of theatre and dance with national and international companies.
This edition brings together proposals ranging from the great classics to new dramaturgy, consolidating the festival as an essential cultural benchmark.
